Oh God, this game is terrifying. i went through a rabbit hole of bad decisions and the world was disintegrating around me

This game is interesting and I enjoyed the twists the plot took! Good job!

Really creative and surprising game.

Definitely a wild ride, so many odd twists and turns. So many weird endings and paths I could take. It was a really awesome game, dealt with some real heavy stuff towards the ending. No spoilers but I NEARLY got what I'd consider a "good ending".

9/10

Spoilers/My Opinion:

I like this game a lot. I like to think of it as Karen being your subconscious, the thoughts that keep you up at night and tell you that you don't deserve love. I don't think a lot of people take the game for that and I think it gives the game so much more meaning. When I played through the second time and saw the real Karen I realized a few different things.

  1.  He was psyching himself up for their anniversary and having all these doubts about himself he had on their first date because he loves her because doesn't want to mess it up.
  2. On his first date he expected Karen to be this stunning woman as he waited at the table with his anxiety. This could mean two things but i'd like to think its the latter; he  dates Karen all the while wishing she was that perfect girl or,  he sees Karen as that beautiful girl despite her flaws.
  3. He has to come to terms with his own problems before he can really be happy. He can't fix his problems with a lover.

I love this game because I think a lot of people have these feelings; whether it be of self doubt, not deserving love or simply anxiety when it comes to dating. For people who played this game and only take it at surface level I challenge you to play it again and think about these things. I feel inspired by this game and its concept so I give it a 9/10. Again this is all just my interpretation of the game. Please forgive all my run on sentences. Thank you to Solscape Studios for this beautiful experience.

Mac version anytime soon?

This was an awesome little game. Fun joke endings, deep introspection, and a great overall meaning to the plot. I think I found all the endings... Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

Don't bother with this game. It's another one where it tries to start off normal with nerdy jokey options but quickly blows it's cover into using language straight out of an abusive partner's playbook to rag on you about you secretly being a terrible, unlovable human being that's suicidal. Of course the way to get the "good" ending is to just take the abuse until you break the 4th wall and it completely renegs it's entire original rant by granting you a girlfriend anayway.

Yawn. 1/5 stars if that.

This game was so good, with its elaborate, yet simple plot and twist. It's definitely worth the praise.

Hi there, I just recently played through your game, I never played the classic version but I really did enjoy this one. I'm just going to quickly go over some things I liked and potentially some things I didn't like throughout my playtime.

I've always been a fan of the pixel art style when it comes to games, and that's no exception here, the art is fantastic. Even though the game takes place in one single area/scene there's a lot of detail packed into it, things that you may not notice if you aren't paying close attention. The story is a roller coaster ride and I love it, it starts out innocent enough but there are some weird twists and turns throughout it, and the fact that there's 8 endings to game really shows the work that went in to making sure this story was great. The game made me think a lot, especially towards the end where I tried to put myself in the main character's shoes, it was a really interesting experience overall.

The only thing I didn't like was the lack of save states, in visual novels (especially ones with a lot choices) you're offered at least a few save slots so that it makes it easier to go back and see the different outcomes, I know it would be a bit tricky to pull off depending on the engine you've used but I feel like it would be a major asset to have.

All in all the game is great, it looks good, plays well and has an interesting story to back it up. I would highly recommend giving this game a shot.

I hope you don't mind but I made a short let's play of my time with the game.

Cheers and best wishes,

Killjoy

Hey Killjoy!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so happy you appreciate the detail in the art! Detail's my middle name.

As for save states, I encourage you to play it a second time with a wildly different approach than when you first went in and see what you end up with! Head out on multiple blind dates to truly find yourself. ;) -mentalpop

I've never been on a blind date and if this is what they're like I don't think I ever want too.

Wow was this a weird one. Originally I thought it was going to be more of a social interaction horror, but it slowly evolved into stalker levels, and eventually into a perfect example of how our minds act when presented with stress. Thanks a lot for making it!

Well I wasn't expecting that to happen on my date

----impression and thoughts----

Sooo hey, some weird things happened on my date..No spoilers here, but I will say I was expecting a twist but my ending was very unexpected. Of course if you are curious about my specific ending check out the video above. I think if you are into lite visual novels with some weird vibes this should be right up your alley. It starts off simply enough, going on a date. Once things begin to become a bit strange, the train really goes off the rails and into live traffic. Especially being free, I'd say give it a try! Feel free to let me know what ending you get!

Cool game! I'm just curious about what game engine you use to make this because this game is awesome!

Only played through once but I really enjoyed this game. I thought the story was very interesting through its various twists.  I also enjoyed the way the setting changed as the dialogue progressed. Overall, you guys did a good job with this game keep it up!

Thank you very much!

When I open it, it stops responding. I don't even get to the main menu. Do I just have to wait for a long time for it to load? Or did I download it incorrectly or something?

i honestly thought it was a blind date sims! boy i was so dead wrong! i love the game! only issues i face was of recording the game! seems it sometimes added the credits to beginning the game before i even started the game

Can't download on Windows :(

I enjoyed this game a lot. The art style is amazing! The way you combined horror and, visual novel elements worked well together. It takes the player for a lot of twists and, turns. I don't believe there is a good ending? I still have to play through various endings.

Not Available on Windows?

It is, must have made a mistake labeling it!

This was fantastic! Everything blended in so well with this game! Unfortunately, I only had enough time in the day to get three endings. I'll keep my eyes out if you guys ever decide to make a first person horror game that's similar to ImScared.

This was one wild and crazy blind date!

Thanks for hitting me up about the game!

For me, I take this as a self help game, Joshua is not necessarily ready for the pressures of a relationship, but does not know how to just have fun and relax. I believe he has been hurt, to the point of being the sad loner nobody wants to be. The shut-in depicted comedically in movies, however is a legitimate issue through all generational demographics. The issue facing Joshua is he simply does not have the self esteem or the confidence in himself to try. He has grown into a bit of a self-pity-party, however remains sympathetic. Although this is a pixelated game, I really enjoyed the three dimensional character you have built in the mind of this man. Perhaps you need to be a bit of a sad loner to understand him and what he is going through, but that's life. I enjoyed the music especially with the different artistic ques during the game, how things around the table began to deteriorate into the cesspool of the lonely man's apartment. The stacks of pizza boxes were a really nice touch. Ultimately, this is a really cool self-help game showing the mental processes, feelings, and thoughts going through someone feeling depressed. And for that, you've earned a spot on my special dark games playlist with this charming introspective scenario. Wonderful work to the developers and composers, truly admirable!

Thank you for playing, Hayden, we really enjoyed watching your video!
